When Is the Best Time to Get a New HVAC Unit?

There will come a time when you have to swap out your old HVAC unit. Before that time comes, you need to be prepared. After all, investing in new heating and cooling equipment can cost a considerable sum. As such, you want to make sure that you’re getting your money’s worth when making an investment.

In today’s post, your fuel oil and heating expert, Thomas J. Fannon & Sons, shares the best time to get a new HVAC unit.

During Off-Peak Seasons

Some homeowners might think that the best time to get a new HVAC unit or have an old unit maintained and repaired is during the winter or summer. This isn’t entirely true, however, since other homeowners will be increasing their heating and cooling usage during these seasons. In addition, every HVAC contractor’s services, such as installation, repair and maintenance, will be in high demand as well.

During peak seasons, companies are also less likely to offer promotions or discounts on their products and services since a lot of customers are hiring or purchasing from them during this period. This is the reason why we recommend spring and fall as the perfect seasons to get an HVAC repair or replacement done.

Signs Your Unit Needs to Be Replaced

If you notice these signs around your HVAC unit, call your local HVAC contractor immediately to assist you:

Frequent repairs. If you notice that you’re booking repairs for your HVAC unit more frequently, then it’s probably about time to have your whole unit replaced. You’ll end up saving more by installing a new unit rather than spending money to maintain a failing one.

Aging unit. All of your home’s components have an expected lifespan, and your HVAC unit is no exception. A normal HVAC unit can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years if maintained properly, and you’ll notice if it’s reaching the end of its lifespan if it no longer cools or heats up your space like it used to despite regular maintenance.

Trust in Thomas J. Fannon & Sons. Our mission is to provide quality service and workmanship to ensure that you stay warm and comfortable. We also offer water heater replacement services. Call us now at (703) 549-5700 or fill out this form.
