Why Your Heating System Needs a Summer Inspection

Most people are happy to simply flick a switch when they need heating or cooling. For many, regular inspection and maintenance of their HVAC system are too bothersome. When the equipment does finally need an HVAC repair, it’s highly likely that it will happen at the most inopportune moment, such as in the middle of a bitter-cold winter or on a burning-hot summer’s day.

It’s best to have your heating equipment inspected before winter. Here are some of the reasons why:

Winter Is a Busy Season for Technicians

As many people choose to wait for winter before having their HVAC system inspected and repaired, most heating companies are often busy at this time, which means you may have to wait awhile before a technician is available. If your HVAC unit isn’t working properly, you’ll have to brave the cold in the meantime. You’ll be fine without cooling while your HVAC system is being serviced, but it’s generally harder to go without heating.

You Can Prepare for a Replacement

If your technician tells you that your system is at the end of its service life after a summer inspection, you have some time to save and prepare for a new one before winter arrives. You also have time to take care of certain details such as setting up your fuel oil delivery schedule.

The Cold Can Be Dangerous

Freezing temperatures are hazardous to your health. Bitter cold can also affect other things that you need, such as the water in your pipes. If your HVAC unit needs repaired or replaced and your pipes burst as well, that means more money down the drain.

It’s Easier to Clean the Ducts

It’s better to schedule ductwork cleanup during the warmer months because this is easier on the technician than trying to do it in the middle of winter, when there won’t be heating available while they’re working on your system.

We’ll work on your heating and cooling system in a professional manner. At Thomas J. Fannon & Sons, we also offer quick water heater replacements. Call us now at (703) 549-5700 or fill out this form.
